Holiday Marketing Ideas For Law Firms To Make This Festive Season Sparkle With Joy (And PR Opportunities)

The holiday season is upon us and with it come new opportunities for marketing, positive branding, and PR.
The jolly season of celebration and joy is upon us. So is there a better time than now to start planning your festive marketing ideas?
Technically, yes. There is a better time and it would be the summer (so you have much more time for prep work) but November can work out fine for the following strategies – and a few last minute hacks.
Think about getting involved with your community
Tis’ the most wonderful time of the year to get much more close and personal with your community. Even a quick google search will result in a plethora of options for volunteering. Taking your team away from the office (safety first!) and helping those who are less fortunate than us is both a great team building experience and an excellent source of positive PR.
Here are several ideas you can use to start your creative engines:
- Serve meals at a local kitchen
- Host a competition for a good cause – like a few weeks on bikes rather than cars
- Gather unneeded toys and donate them away
- Make a donation to a charity of your choosing
Send out some holiday cards – but only if they are meaningful
Holiday greeting cards can sound a bit trivial but bear with me on this one. First of all, not a lot of people expect a card from their lawyer. So doing something unique helps you stand out in and of itself.
That being said, don’t settle for a mediocre greeting. Invest a little bit of time and resources, or maybe even outsource this task to someone, but make all of the cards hand-written. Add a personal touch to them and you’ll be building bridges between clients and their attorneys in no time.
Start using traditional digital marketing tactics
Most law firms suffer in the marketing department. That’s ok. The mentality of a lawyer – as well as the public image of one – have greatly influenced how we see self-promotion. In our minds, being the best in a niche is already marketing in and of itself. That being said, how many people casually look through records or court logs or even niche-specific press?
Now compare their numbers to those who happen to be on social media, for instance. Or even those who find your website via google. These kinds of thoughts can get your gears spinning, right? Here are several ideas straight off the bat:
- Update your website with festive elements like icons or visuals. This way you will appear much more human in the eyes of the casual visitor.
- Host a giveaway on social media. They are a much trickier matter to pull off correctly if you are looking for something more than a short time boost, but they are a viable marketing tool in the right hands nonetheless.
- Promote your team to be more active on social media with their favorite cheerful moments and family photos. Again, appearing more human than a brand will do you wonders in the long run.
- Collaborate with relevant local businesses. This way both you and a newly found partner can capitalize on each other’s audience.
