4 Time Tracking Tools For Lawyers

We all know that time is money. And yet we don’t treat it as such.

Think about it. What happens to money once you lose track of it?

It slips through your fingers.

Time does the very same thing. Lawyers are billing for as little as 2.4 hours from their 8 hour-long business days. Can you afford the rest to go unpaid? And for how long until the losses are no longer sustainable?

Tome needs to be tracked. But how does one track something as ethereal as a man-made construct designed to tell us how long something takes in a quantifiable manner?

That’s when time tracking tools come in handy.

That said, not all apps are made equal. Even less are made with the needs and daily routine of a lawyer in mind.

That’s why I’ve selected 4 time tracking tools that were either designed for practicing lawyers or possess the functionality you’ll need in a law firm.

1. TimeBro

TimeBro is less of a time tracking application and more like a digital assistant slash organizer. The app’s deep integrations with productivity and office software, paired with its functionality allow lawyers to automatically track and manage their computer activities, none and offline meetings, and more.

The app will allow you to create your own calendar (equipped with timely reminders) from your assignments and tasks automatically. As for your personal data – well, it is well protected because the only place it is stored is your own device.

2. Clio Manage

Clio offers access to its cloud-based timekeeping features as part of its legal practice management software offerings. These features allow you to keep track of a lawyer’s time both online and offline.

The functionality is integrated with a lawyer’s calendar, tasks, events, and communication logs. In addition to tracking time, Clio helps with analyzing your efforts and reviewing where you spend the lion’s share of the invaluable asset.

3. TimeSparrow

The worst part of time tracking is, well, the process of tracking time. Most of the time you’ll find it more tedious than it’s worth. The fact that you need to spend time in order to track it just rubs more salt into the wound.

TimeSparrow tries to minimize your pains by offering you several ways of tracking time, be it through timers, text messages, phone notifications, or even Amazon Alexa.

4. Chrometa Time Tracker

Chrometa is an app that passively captures the time you spend on your Mac or PC and categorizes it according to the activity. You’ll know how much you spend on emails, text messages, web browsing, or working with documents.

Needless to say, well-structured and efficiently categorized knowledge regarding your “spendings” will allow you to plan your daily routine with much higher levels of efficiency and grace.
